The Great Gatsby

>> Thursday, February 28, 2013

My second card for the movie challenge is inspired by The Great Gatsby.  I vaguely remember reading the book or perhaps part of the book in college and I either didn't like it, didn't get it or was too busy hanging out with my friends to care about English books.  What I do like is the elegance of the era.  I remember discussing with my parents when we were looking through old photos of how men wore suits to birthday parties and women were in lovely party dresses...I love the notion of getting dressed up to celebrate a birthday.

For my card I used:
Digital Stamp 1920's Kody from Some Odd Girl
Skin E000, E00, E11 and E93
Hair E31, E33, E35, E37.
Clothes C1, C2, C3, C5, C7, C9, BV0000, BV00, B0000, B000.

The Wizard of Oz

>> Saturday, February 23, 2013

Welcome here!!  I'm so pleased to be sharing my first M4M creation with you.  This month we have been showcasing creations inspired by the movies, and what better childhood movie than The Wizard of Oz.

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"
I used Saturated Canary's digital stamp called Pigtails. It's the perfect stamp to use as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.  I was stumped at how to decorate the card once I had my image coloured, and decided to go with black and white...just like how the beginning of the movie starts out in black and white.

Here's Dorothy's red glitter shoes.

I added the yellow brick road using 3 different Copic yellows and randomly coloured bricks...I also decided to add Oz in the background, and I used the chisel tip for the first time, lol.

Copics Used:
Skin - E0000, E00, YR000, R20, R00
Hair - E11, E15, E17, E18, E19
Eyes - B04
Dress - B02, B04, B06, C1
Socks - C1
Shoes - R24, R29, R59, 0
Basket - E11, E15, E17, E18, R08
Toto - E71, E74, E77, N7
Bricks - Y08, Y13, Y15
Grass - YG25, YG67
Sky - BG0000
Oz - BG10, BG11
Shadow on bricks - W1
Outline -C1

Recipe:  Saturated Canary Digital Stamp-Pigtails, PP-BoBunny Isabella Savvy, CTMH CS-White Daisy, Bazzill CS-Blue & Black, Spellbinders-Labels 27, Labels 4, Labels 4 Small & Frame One Die D-Lites, Memory Box-Honeysuckle Vine, Pearls, Red Glitter, Foam Squares, Copics.

You have a few days left to join us for the Movie Inspired Challenge!

Inspired by Vampires

>> Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Hi all,

Long before Twilight and Bella and Edward hit our screens there were another couple of handsome vampires on the big screen. I am talking about Lestat and Loius from Interview With A Vampire, who were played by Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. They are who the inspiration for my card came from.

I have used a Tiddly Inks image called “Vamp Me” and used the following copics to colour it:
Skin: boy – E50, E51 girl - E000, E00, E21, R22, R20, R11 Hair: boy - E51, E53, E55 girl – B24, C7, C9, C10 Top: R22, R24, R27 ,R29

Now it’s your turn to be inspired by your favourite movie or perhaps the glitz and glam of the red carpet and join us in this months challenge.

Introducing our guest DT Anita

>> Tuesday, February 12, 2013

I would like to say a big thank you to M4M for giving me the opportunity to be their guest designer for February! When I received the email with the challenge details (Oscars theme. Movies think of your favourite movie character or the glitz and glamour of the red carpet), my first thought was my goodness what shall I do, then immediately I thought of Alice in Wonderland and then remembered I had an image from Some Odd Girl of the 'Mad Hatter' so I set about colouring him and the card came to life.

The copics used were: E000,00,11,21, W1,2,3,5,7, G94. Papers are Graphic45 'Halloween in Wonderland Collection' , the clapper board I found on the internet, negatives were from my old photo stash then added peel off sticker border and stars, also added the chipboard teacup & spoon again coloured with copics!

Many thanks
Anita

Inspired by a movie - Robin Hood

>> Monday, February 11, 2013

This month at Mad for Markers we're hoping you'll get inspired by movies. One of my favourite movies when I was younger was the Disney version of Robin Hood. I just couldn't get enough of all those animals.

So when I looked through all the stamps and images I had, I found myself drawn to the following image, can you tell why?
Hope you have fun with your red carpet glam or movie inspired creations.  I coloured this Robin Hood Edwin with Copics (of course) and listed the colours in the top corners, but I don't expect you to have to read my tiny scrawl... For skin: E000, E01. Hair and pants: E33, E35, E37. Shoes and belt: E25, E29. Hat and shirt: G43, G46. Feathers: Y02, Y06, Y08. Bow and arrows: E57.

Unfortunately, internet issues meant I didn't get to post this last Friday but better late than never, right!?!

xx Gin
