Summer Loving!!!!

>> Thursday, April 26, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

Mel B here for another week of inspiration for you.

I have to say I was a little scared when I first found out about this challenge but once I got started and really thought about how I could incorporate the "wet" look into my images I just kept coming up with ideas. It really is so simple.

Today I have a Magnolia background image to share with you. I have only coloured this image a couple of times because it seems to take forever to colour. I was really happy with the way the sun come out. I really wanted to make it look like a real sunset and I think I got it pretty close.

I coloured the water, then I went over it pretty roughly with a clear spica pen making sure I left a lot of stroke markes. I then covered the entire water with Glossy accents. It is a bit hard to see it in the photo but n an angle you can see the stroke marks which look like ripples in the water.

Copics Used:
E23, 25, 27, 29, 51, 53, 55.
YR12, 16, 02, 20, 21.
R05, 81, 83, 85.
C00, 0.
B0000, 00, 01, 60.
Clear Spica.
Pink Spica.

There is still a little time for you to get your creation linked to the challenge site. It really is a simple challenge once you start to think about it. If in doubt, just scroll back through all the wonderful inspiration the Design Team have put up for you.

Thanks for dropping bye.

Too wet at Mad For Markers

>> Friday, April 20, 2012

Not again!
We've had so much rain that everything feels damp. Hopefully, this sunshine will stay around long enough to dry everything out before the next rain spell.
My card this time is using a M4M digi from their April release: Mr Doll.
Have you seen the full collection (here)?

Mr Doll is coloured with E31, E33, E35, E37 (these browns travel with me a lot).
The rain effect was done with my Wide markers B34 and 0 on acetate, plus B000 on E33 for the window pane....

April showers...colouring something wet...with a twist!

>> Thursday, April 19, 2012

Good Morning everyone! Right. I thought i would do something different today with the whole colour something wet challenge.
Twist it up a little and be a little "outside the box"with the whole theme.
I thought i would watercolour with my copics! Yep! you heard right, water colour......well get the effect of watercolouring with them really! (Well watercolouring is wet isn't it!!!)

There are 3 main things you will need for this technique. colourless blender refill. which you can purchase from Mad for Markers. ( the shop is closed for a bit while Sammi get her home moved but she will open again real soon.) A stamp which has a lot of area that you can colour in, and a little spray bottle like a mini mister that will create a fine spray. Oh and of course your copic markers!!! duh!

Now before you go screaming"OH NO"don't colour in with your markers on stamps it will ruin them. i assure you as long as when you finish you give them a really good clean with either colourless blender or some staz on stamp cleaner they will be fine. at the end of the day staz on is solvent based and does not seen to damage the stamps. Its all about the cleaning after!
All you need to do is grab your copics and go from light to dark and colour your stamp. do not worry if it dries that is where the blender and mister comes in.
Once your image is coloured pop a little of your colourless blender into your mister and spray LIGHTLY onto your stamp with the ink on it. Then stamp.
You do not have to use watercolour paper for this. any paper is fine. i used kraft card. it bleed a little but hey! i was going for the watercolour look!!!

Here is the card.

And here are the copics i used.

As you can see i also used my copics and colourless blender to colour my ribbon and also my flowers. I saturated them both first with blender before colouring them with the chisel end of my copics.

I hope you have a go at this as it is lots of fun and you can get some great effects.

Tara:)

Splish Splash

>> Thursday, April 12, 2012

Hello to all our followers.

I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather. In North QLD it is getting very cool at night and it just lovely. Better than the heat we have been having.

We are into our second week for our current challenge which is to create something with a "wet" look. This is proving to be a hard challenge for a lot of people including some of our DT members. It is great to see every ones interpretation of it though.

This week I have decided to use this cute little image that I found. I love the way this little boy is splashing in the puddles and it reminds me of the saying "Sing like no one is listening, Work like you don't need the money. Dance like no one is watching" etc..... Well you get the picture anyway!!!!!!

I have used Glossy Accents over the puddle to make it look more like water. I love the effect it gives it.

You still have heaps of time to get your creation linked to the challenge, just remember you must use your Copic Markers on your creation and please list the markers you use in your post, it makes it so much easier for us to see what combinations you have used.

Copics Used:
E23, 25, 27, 29, 40, 41.
YG61, 63, 67.
R35, 37, 39.
B01, 91, 93, 95.
YR12, 16.
C8, 10.
Black Spica.

Thanks for dropping bye

It was certainly a challenge for me but I enjoyed it!

Passion and Contentment at M4M

>> Friday, April 6, 2012

This month at Mad For Markers it's 'April Showers - colour something to look wet'.
So I decided to try my hand at Syren sitting on a rock in the middle of some water.... not sure how well it worked but I like the tension between trying for a mermaid or being content without....

Today I'm also celebrating Good Friday because of how good Christ's death is for me.
Christ's passion provides my contentment!

Sentiments are from Maya Road.

Have you booked your spot for Werribee on the 2nd of June... if not then BOOK HERE!

Water in a fish bowl.

>> Thursday, April 5, 2012

Good morning everyone!
boy oh boy, i have been reading up on colouring a wet look or water these past few days. i was worried about this challenge as it is not an easy  thing to colour a wet look image.
for my card i did not want to use glossy accents etc for the wet look, i really wanted to get the effect just with my markers. so i went to one of my favorite blogs and searched it to find a tutorial on colouring water and there were heaps!!! this is the tutorial i used from I like markers. it really helped me get the grasp on how water looks in glass.
I used a greeting farm image for this card Oliver from my favorite things. you can find many Oliver and Amelia stamps over on the mad 4 markers website.
Here is my card.

Along with the glass of water tutorial to get the goldfish looking right i also used a faded jean effect of Olivers jeans.

Here are the markers i used.

I think next time i might have a go at colouring a pond or lake for my wet effect!

Tara :)
