Another week has rolled around and I have another card to share with you. Our current challenge is to create something using Monochromatic tones. How easy does this challenge sound!!!!!! As long as you use your Copic Markers you can link up anything that you have created that you think fit this criteria.

Teal all over!!!

>> Thursday, March 15, 2012

Hello all Copic lovers and welcome to my little bit of inspiration.

We are onto our new challenge which is to create something monochromatic. I find this type of creating is really easy because all you have to do is pick a colour family and stick to it.

For my card I wanted to create something that was clean and simple but that didn't really work out. I think I coloured too many butterflies!!!!

This particular butterfly is a Magnolia stamp and is so easy and fun to colour.

Copics Used:
BG72, 75, 78.
Clear Spica.

I want to remind everyone about our Birthday Blog Hop which is happening on the 22nd March. This will be a great hop with plenty of prizes along the way. Got he the shop blog and register your name to show your interest. You definitely don't want to miss out!!

Keep checking back each day for more inspiration. We LOVE seeing what all our friends have created for our challenges and you never know, if you link up something using your Copic Markers you may even win something!!!!

Surfer Ian in Monochromatic Shades of Green

>> Saturday, March 10, 2012

Hi Copic Lovers,

I hope you are having a happy Saturday.  I wanted to share my green Surfer Ian.  I have put him onto a card.   I think he will be perfect for one of my surfie cousins that live up on the Sunshine Coast and both have birthdays later this year...so does that mean I might be organised?? How nice it will be to pull the card out already made and send it off!

But I am getting sidetracked...did you want to know colours?

Here they are: YG11, YG03, YG23, YG06, G14, G05, G28

I followed a sketch, but the challenge has ended now...the sketch I found to be really good though, if you want an easy and quick card to go with an image you have coloured give it a try.

Well, I hope you have a great weekend and get some colouring time in.  Why not make a card for our challenge?  Pop on over to Sammi's store to buy Surfer Ian and the new Greeting farm stamps here.

Thanks for stopping by,

Alicia xx

March is Monochromatic at M4M

>> Friday, March 9, 2012

I really like the TGF Twinkle Tot series* from a little while back, but I often struggle trying to decide on what colours to use... so I decided to colour Izzy without colour this time (which ties in well with this month's M4M Monochrome challenge)... and reaching for the N Copics, I then struggled with another question - light or dark hair?
As I couldn't decide I opted for both :-)

Here's how I did it....

For the light hair (N1, N2, N3, N4, N5, N6, N7, N8):

Step 1: Starting with the lightest shade (N1) colour in the hair (use multiliner for extra detail if needed)
Step 2: Using the next two shades (N2 and N3) colour skin blending as usual to create slight shadows
Step 3/4: Work out how many clothing sections are touching (in this case 2: the jacket and the dress). Divide the remaining shades between the clothing sections and colour appropriately.
(I coloured the jacket and hat with N4 and N5, then the dress in N6, N7 and N8).
Step 5: Touch up any sections that need to be lighter with 0.

Step 1: Starting with the two lightest shades (N1 and N2) colour in the skin blending as usual
Step 2/3/4: Work out how many clothing sections are touching (in this case 2: the jacket and the dress). Separate out the shades you intend to use for the hair.
Divide the remaining shades between the clothing sections and colour appropriately.
(I coloured the dress and hat with N3 and N4, then the jacket and hatband in N5 and N6).
Step 5: Colour the hair with the dark shades already selected (I used N7, N8 and N9).
Step 6/7: Emphasise the details using shade jumps.
(I used N10 for the buttons on the N5/6 jacket, and N1 for the belt on N3/4).

Mad for Markers stocks TGF rubber stamps including the latest release - be sure to check out what's on offer this month :-)

getting my monochromatic colouring just right!

>> Thursday, March 8, 2012

Good Morning everyone!,
Monochromatic colouring...hmmmmmm...... this was not my favorite choice when i heard our march line up! but honestly, by the time i finished colouring in Birthday Mae my mind was totally changed!
If you colour with the correct combo of colours it is quite effective!
But what choice of colours to pick? well after much sampling of colours from my collection of copics, i went with the Warm Greys and a couple of E's. You see just because it is monochromatic it does not stop you from mixing it up a bit to get the right shading of colours.

Here is my Birthday Mae coloured in.

Here are the colours i used.

And with a little help from some My minds eye papers(stella and rose), Fiskars interchangeable border punch(lacy doubles),My favorite things die-namics  and Lawn Fawn alphabet stamp set. my card was complete!

Don't forget, you can buy all the copic markers and the some odd girl stamp i used from the Mad 4 Markers online store and remember to keep an eye out this month on the Blog and facebook page for birthday giveaways and surprises!

Tara:)
