Colour Me Untraditional

>> Thursday, November 25, 2010

Hi Copic fans!!

Thursday again that means it's my turn to inspire you to reach for your Copics and create yourself something fabulous.

The current challenge here on the Mad For Markers Challenge Blog is to create a Christmas Card - using copics to colour with non-traditional Christmas colours.

I am so excited to see all the fabulous cards already submitted. You guys are amazing!! If you haven't  checked them out yet you should, and there is still plenty of time for you to get your markers out and join in the fun.

For my card this week I have gone with one of Kenny K's fantastic images "Mistletoe"

The basic colour combo I have used is Brown, Blue an Green (there's a bit of orange in there too :-D ).

I've used a my Peach Spica Pen to add a little shimmer to the trim of her jacket and boots. Here's a photo to hopefully show it up a bit better.

Copics I have used for this image are:

Skin - E000, E00, E11 and R20
Hair - Y26, Y21, C1 and C3
Clothes and Boots - B91, B93, B97, (E53, E25 and Peach Spica Pen for trim)
Holly - B93, Y13 and R46

I also used E29 to colour the clear rhinestones for the corners.

I look forward to see your non traditionally coloured Christmas card!!

Thanks for stopping by

M4M-Nov 16 Copics
I hope this card provides some inspiration for your own "Non Traditional Christmas Colour" cards. And I think this challenge is a great way to help us finish off those few extra christmas cards we need for the holiday season.

Hi Copic Lovers,

Its Alicia here.
This morning I have another Christmas card in untraditional colours.
I am actually making some head way with my Chrissie cards...but havent started my main bulk lot yet...I like all of them to be exactly the same.  These ones will be perfect to send out to the schools I have been teaching at this term.  Anyway onto the details about my card...

I coloured in another Cute LOTV Christmas bear...I have really fallen in love with these bears.  because of my DP (very, very old and was the last little bit of it) is all cool silvers and blues I didnt want to colour the bear brown so I opted for greys.  I actually love colouring with greys.  They blend so nicely together.

The colours I used are:
Greys: C-1, C-3, C-5, C-7
Blues for hat: BG09, BG05, B00
Star and ground: B60, BV23
Outline: BG10
Kindy Glitz

I cut the snowflakes out on my Cricut and covered them with Kindy Glitz as well.  I added silver, white, blue gingham and white mesh ribbons.  The base card is Next to Navy and Whisper White.  I kept the design pretty simple.

Have you entered the Mad for Markers Christmas Card challenge yet?  See what you can pull out from your stash to come up with something in untraditional colours...it is quite interesting and fun!  Link up your creations here so we can all come around and visit you.

Pop on over to Sammi's M4M store to add to your Copic collection or begin your collection...you won't be disappointed you did.  Copic markers are so beautiful to colour with.  They just glide onto the paper and leave such vibrant colours on your card.

Thanks for stopping by,
Alicia xx

I have found a little wreath which I have added some holly to and some hanging baubles.
I also added a beautiful Chrstmas Tree from Scrap Matts.

Purple Fairy Holly Gift Box

>> Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Hi all,

Welcome to our new Mad for Markers Challenge to Copic Colour an Untraditional Christmas Colour Creation!  Now try saying that aloud LOL!

Well Christmas wouldn't be Christmas in our house without a little bit of purple lol!  So I have used my favourate image from Mo Manning 'Fairy Holly' and decorated a gift box for Christmas.  Now I don't usually use a lot of glitter but the sun has not shone much over here and I think I got a little too carried away.

Around the edge I have used my Tim Holtz on the edge snow flurries on glitter card then added a couple of glittered snowflakes (from my stash) with rhinestone brads coloured with V17.  Then added purple rhinestones for a snow falling effect.

A side view to try and show the sparkly cardstock, spica pens used in hair, lips, snow globe and dress

The ribbon around the box

Just a reminder Sammi over at the Mad for Markers Store can cater for all your copic requirements, as well as markers, there are various sticky tapes, Xpress Blend It Paper, masking paper etc. and new to the store Flourish with bling embellishments.  Posting to New Zealand and Australia. .  Also check here each day for more wonderful inspiration from our new DT.  We so look forward to visiting your space in blog land to see your wonderful creations.

Magical Fairy Wands

>> Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Hi Copic Lovers,

It's Alicia here...and this is my first official post as a Mad for Marker's DT member!
I have something a bit cute to share today...some magical fairy wands.
I was shopping in one of my local cheap shops and found a pack of two plain fairy wands for only $3 and I thought they would be great as little stocking fillers for my neices Charlotte (5), and Molly (2). I decided to make one pink because that is Charlotte's favourite colour and the other one purple because Molly doesn't have a favourite colour yet, that I am aware of, but purple is my sister's favourite colour. (I think my sister would be secretly pleased if one of her girls loved the colour purple because she was a big purple fan when we were kids.) I painted them with Acrylic Craft Paint and then a top coat of Glitter Paint for added sparkle. I cut out two silver circles with nesties and coloured in these cute little Maggies in the following Copic colours:

Skin: E21, E11, E00, R20
Hair: Y11, E11, Y08, E33, Sand Spica
Pinks: R37, RV06, RV04, Blossom Spica
Purples: V17, V15, V04, Lavender Spica

My how I am loving those Spica pens!! They give a bit of glitz without bulging the paper like Kindy Glitz can sometimes do. Check out Sammi's store to buy some for yourself...but I will warn you...treat yourself to the whole set...because once you own a few of these Spicas you will quickly want the whole collection!!!

I added some crystal beads and silver Christmas decoration...not sure what you call it, but I found that in the cheap shop as well.

Don't forget you still have some time left to enter the "Anything but a Card Challenge" here at Mad for Markers...if you see some fairy wands in your travels you may like to have a go at decorating some yourself! Upload them in the sidebar and share your creations.

Thanks for reading,

Alicia xx

Goodmoring Copic Lovers

Mel B here with a little bit of Monday Inspiration. This is my first post for the challenge Blog so before we begin I just wanted to say how excited I am to be on the Design Team for M4M with some very talented ladies. I am sure I will be kept busy but what better way to be able to create than with my passion, Copic Markers.

Now down to Business. Today I wanted to show you what I have created for our current challenge "Anything But A Card" I found this Cute MDF train which has been sitting on my shelf for waaaayyyy to long and thought it was time I did something with it. I decided it will be going in my second sons bedroom who is only 15 months old so I wanted to use some soft coloured papers and found these old but beautiful Crate Paper "Cowboy Collection" papers. I have used a Mo's digital image "I Love It" which fit in with the theme of the train. I have also used my Copic Markers to colour the numbers and the rhinestones in. There are more details on my blog for you to have a look at. The link is in the side bar.

While you are here on the blog why not check out what some of the other DT have created. Also make sure you check out all the other entries for the current challenge. There are some great ones coming in. There is still a few days to get your own challenge linked so why not give it a go. It can be anything you like just not a card. Make sure you also use your Copic Markers on your creation.

If you think your Copic collection is a bit low or you are like me and just can't resist adding to it then check out The Mad For Markers Store or The Stamp Spot for all your other stamping needs. Both links are in the side bar.

Thanks for Dropping Bye.

Mel B
